First off, can I just say Inside Out was amazing? Alex was an amazing person tonight and got us Pizza Hut and took us to see the premiere of Inside Out. Best night ever. Totally makes up for our crappy date last night. We bawled like babies. Total babies. That said, today. Today, I was out of vitamins. I didn't think that would be a big deal. But then I experienced today, and not even my Mickey straw from Port Orleans Riverside and Disney World stuck in my Camp Nanowrimo camp mug filled to the brim with ice cold Diet Pepsi could make my writing go any better. I was just drained. I literally wrote ... from scratch on my manuscript ... a total of about two paragraphs. And not like "Oh well at least you got those two sizeable paragraphs down," no. Like a few lines of dialogue and little description. But it doesn't mean I didn't learn anything today. I actually learned a lot. I got my mentor notes back for my last packet of second semester, and it solidified a lot of things I'd already been ruminating on here on this blog, which is ironic, because the note is that my characters ruminate too much. I also listened to a lot of music and started putting a playlist together for my protag. I also read some stuff off my Ireland required reading list, including the first half of "The Dead" by James Joyce, of which I'm still not sure what to think. I also read a fellow Stonecoaster's first half of a manuscript as a Beta Reader, and it's pretty damn amazing. And then I saw Inside Out, which thoroughly impressed me. So I did do work, and I did grow as a writer, but the writing itself did not come out. Tomorrow I dig into the last half of Joyce, try to get a little more reading done, finish up the Beta Reading, and start piecing together my manuscript. |
