Day Twelve: The Ballad of the Bad Knee

Today was a BUSY day. I had three workshops (with a quick stop at Raisin' Cane's for a nom-filled lunch), and then I went to the doctor's to get an x-ray and sign up for PT. Turns out I have a trick leg that is, and I quote, "a little wobbly one way." Well, that would explain why every couple of years, my knee wobbles my leg to look more like a sideways-L than a straight I.

Good news is the bones aren't screwed, so I don't get my hove-around any time soon. But it does mean PT is going to happen quick in order to get me ready for Europe. From what I've heard lately, Europe might as well be a never-ending running track made of cobblestones.

As for the writing, I did write in fact. I've written every day since this challenge began, and that's awesome. I did not in fact get to the battle scene, but I did write the scene before the battle scene, which took a little bit longer than I thought it would. But it's on an important subject that I am in no way an expert on, so I wanted to take my time.

The subject matter has to do with race, which I would be a really awful writer if I tried to shirk in a book based in its time period. But it's better to try and fail than just not try at all. So there that scene is done, and I'm planning on a lot of rewrites of the scene, but there it is for now.

Tomorrow is Mad Max day. Hopefully between my three workshops and movie night with the fam, I'll have time to start in on the next draft of the battle scene. Alex burned me "Rains of Castomere," so I'm sure that will help to continue the macabre metaphors and imagery all around. Thanks, Alex.
