This picture is of a stuffed Stitch watching Lilo and Stitch. Because I'm useless today. Revision brain is a weird place to be. It's when everything makes your mind trip-switch into revision. For example, I was at the movies when some commercial came on with a song in the background, and I literally shouted, "I NEED THAT SONG SO I CAN WRITE TO IT!" It is socially unacceptable to shout in a theater. Anyway, so I've locked myself at Paradise Bakery, trying to eke out four hours of good revision. We shall see how great this goes. I know what I want to do with this book, but I'm just so tired. At this point, reading Les Mis for my term paper would be more enjoyable than looking over Chapter One again. Chapter Ones are evil. Pure goddam evil. But again, at least I'm lucky enough to have hit the spot where I feel comfortable writing on this draft and I know I've got a solid story. The way I usually tackle revisions is like a weaver. I take one thread all the way through the piece, and then I start over and take another thread. So I don't necessarily do one chapter, then another, then another. I usually just focus on one aspect and finish that aspect, and then start working from another aspect. The aspect I'm focusing on right now is the adopted father character. He's what got this whole draft on the right foot, and so it's an enjoyable aspect. Can you tell I have revision brain? This entry is a total garbled mess. I would revise it, but I have to revise my book. ... Revision. And scene. |
