The first snow has hit and it is December, which means it is officially winter and Christmas fun times. Great thing about this: CHRISTMAS. Bad thing about this: Diets go out the window, no one wants to work, and there are so many social engagements to fulfill. So I've been trying to keep up not only my workout regiment, but also my writing regiment. Every day, I've attempted to do a little. It's not as much as I'd like, and my book has entered that stage of revisions where every time I look at it I have this overwhelming urge to set my laptop on fire ... but I've still made it some kind of priority. I think that writing through the holidays is a lot like keeping your nutrition going. Yes, you can have fun, but you still need to show up at the gym every single day. You still need to count calories and not just turn a blind eye to the damage you are wreaking upon your body ... or the cobwebs you are allowing to gather on your word documents. This next week, I will be focusing on my book and three short stories I'd like to submit before the end of the month. I also have a bunch of work to do for residency, which is in five weeks. Five weeks! How the hell did that happen? But between the Christmas parties and the stuffing-my-face-full-of-chocolate, I have to keep focused. No matter how much I just want to hibernate because holy crap why is it so cold? Happy early holidays to all of you, and I will keep your own struggle to get out of bed in my thoughts. |
