Day Sixty-Eight and Sixty-Nine: Tomorrow would have been my day back.

This is what my current situation looks like.

A blurred picture of all the stuff from Europe, still out and about, not sorted, and just trying to get through the week.

This week is busy. I am teaching all day, and I have a residency response due on Friday.

But although I'm busy, I know that next week, I'll be less busy. I can tackle my third semester project, I can start getting things ready for the wedding, I can keep working on my book.

But in another universe, I did not have next week.

Because tomorrow was supposed to be the start of a new year. I was supposed to report tomorrow morning. And I'm not. I'm working somewhere else. I'm finishing school. I'm taking care of the mound of backpacks and West End programmes and putting them where they need to be.

What an adventure we've begun.
